Welcome to the SCCS-ECLS chapter creation group under the umbrella of the saudi Critical care society. The purpose of this group is to have a scientific body that provide guidance and education to all ECMO related topics.
The Saudi Critical Care Society kindly has showed strong interest in supporting this idea and is willing to support us to have this chapter developed nationally. I invited you to be a member of this chapter and help in developing it to have a national well structured scientific body for ECMO care and management under the saudi society of CCM which can unify all ECMO related work to benefit all.
I hope we can come with something that will benefit our country and improve the care given to our brother and sisters.
The Saudi Critical Care Society is on its 10 year of service since January 2007, it is under the umbrella of Saudi Council for health Specialties. The society's aim and vision is on continuing education with a focus on critical care. The society has nine (9) executive board members and has established numerous chapters (Pediatric, Respiratory, Neuro & Nursing) Each chapter is headed by a chairman and has its own membership under the SCCS.
The Saudi Critical Care society had formulated a total of 21 critical courses out of which are three (3) international courses that are collaborations with the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), the European Intensive Care Society (EICS), and the Middle East Critical Care Association (MECCA). Directors for courses are assigned to be able to deliver and meet the demand for education and learning of our membership. Courses are offered continuously year round. A quarterly calendar is made available on the SCCS website.
During the increasing cases of MERS CoV the Ministry of Health and Saudi Critical Care Society together with the Saudi Commission of Health Specialties successfully educated 2,973 healthcare workers from the community coming from 12 hospitals in different cities in the KSA. This was done via our training centers situated both in Jeddah and Riyadh . This training successfully delivered much needed awareness of the disease. Courses offered were ECMO, CRRT, FCCN, ARCCA, CCIC and FCCS. There were 105 physicians who participated as a course instructors during the 4 months extensive “MERS CoV Education Week”
The SCCS Headquarter is designed with two (2) lecture halls that can easily accommodate up to 100 attendees. A third conference room with 20 seats and 8 halls with 50 seats capacity and a total of 30 workshop rooms designed to accommodate 20 seats (workshops and hands on) with all rooms being fully equipped with audiovisual equipment.
